Robert (Bob) Marshall is an ultra-conservative Republican who represents Virginia's 13th district, an area that includes Manassas, Haymarket, Manassas Park, Gainesville, Buckhall and adjacent areas. The district was recently gerrymandered to favor Republicans and other conservatives. As a result, Marshall has little difficulty in being re-elected every two years in spite of his negative views concerning women's rights.
Marshall is noted as being an extremist. In early 2013 he advocated Virginia printing and distributing its own currency because he didn't believe national currency was solvent. Also, in 2013 he voted against improvements in transportation in Virginia (HB 2313).
